I get it. Pivoting is scary
If you had told me 20 years ago that I’d one day be a coach running my own practice, I wouldn’t have believed you.
I started my career in theater after graduating from Ithaca College with a degree in Drama and a focus in Stage Management. I loved the creativity, the collaboration, the community, and creating something from nothing. But over time, I realized I wanted more of a work/life balance. That first pivot— away from a career and community that I had deeply tied my identity to—taught me what it really takes to change direction.
I ended up moving into marketing and eventually events management where I was able to tap into my theater roots to create meaningful experiences for people. I loved it and I was good at it. I kept growing and landed at a startup where I shaped a brand-new role for the business.
I fell in love with more than just the work, I loved the company culture, the people, and the way we invested in those people. I wanted to learn more and was directed by our Head of People & Culture to iPEC where I would eventually become a Certified Professional Coach.
The iPEC program is like getting a Masters in Coaching. Through learning the coaching methods and techniques, you yourself are also experiencing them first hand. Coaching didn’t just give me tools, it gave me clarity. I realized that I wanted to pivot yet again, and this time into Learning & Development to better support my team and help continue to share our company’s culture. And that’s exactly what I did. I continued to grow taking on the Director role and leading the L&D initiatives through the pandemic.
And then the unthinkable happened.
I was impacted by layoffs, along with 26% of my organization. Once again, I found myself at a pivot point.
It would have been easy to jump right back into a corporate role. But I knew there was something else calling me. Something that aligned more fully with my values, strengths, and life stage. So I said yes to the scary thing: starting my own coaching practice.
Over the years, I’ve learned how to navigate change with intention, resilience, and heart. I’ve lived in the messy middle and sat with the fear and uncertainty of “what’s next?” And now, I help others do the same, whether they’re at a career crossroads, looking to pivot, or just figuring out what’s next.
My path has never been a straightline, but the throughline is clear: I’m here to create meaningful, human-centered experiences that enable people to learn and transform.
You’re not stuck. You have a choice. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.
